IHC of Cytokeratin 8 on an FFPE Colon Tissue
Intended Use | For In Vitro Diagnostic Use
Summary and Explanation | Cytokeratin 8, also known as type II cytoskeletal 8, is a protein that is often paired with Cytokeratin 18. They are perhaps the most commonly found products of the intermediate filament gene family, and are expressed in single-layer epithelial tissues of the body. Cytokeratin 8 is an intermediate filament protein produced early in embryogenesis. Anti-Cytokeratin 8 can be used to detect Adenocarcinomas with simple epithelium origin. It can be used to distinguish between Duct (peripheral staining) from Lobular (perinuclear staining) Breast Carcinoma.
