Summary and Explanation | CD11c (1TGAX) is a member of the leukointegrin family and shares the same beta subunit with other members of the leukocyte adhesion molecule family, which include CD11a (LFA-1), CD11b (MAC-1), and CD11d (ITGAD), but has a unique alpha chain. CD11c is a type I transmembrane protien found at high levels on most human dendritic cells, but also on monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and some B cells that induces cellular activation and helps trigger neutrophil respiratory burst. CD11c is expressed in Hairy Cell leukemias, Acute Nonlymphocytic Leukemias, and some B-cell Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemias. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
